What are safe for G6PD Deficiency products?
People with G6PD Deficiency cannot come into contact with some drugs, foods and other chemicals because they act as triggers which cause red blood cells to burst (hemolysis). If hemolysis is bad enough, it can require a blood transfusion to remedy or in some cases death can result, however, most triggers cause lower levels of hemolysis. Our body must compensate for hemolysis by cleaning up the dead RBC's and making more. This process requires bodily resources. Over time it can lead to a shortage of these resources which in turn leaves our bodies suseptible to other medical problems as well as over worked liver, heart, speen and renal systems. Because of this, it is very important that those with G6PDD avoid triggers and eat right. If we do accidentally come into contact with a trigger that causes a hemolytic crises, we will need to be as healthy as possible.
